From Sea to Shining Tee

This summer, Palm Beach has it all, from pristine beaches to world-class shopping, but one pastime we’re the most interested in is...golf! There’s nothing like a peaceful day spent chipping on the green. So dock your yacht at the Palm Beach Marina, and let's roll out to tee time — yes, we said it, dock and roll.

Berthing at the Marina, where the Town of Palm Beach and all it offers is one big amenity, specifically gives you limited complimentary access to the beautiful Par 3 Golf course. It is located just a few miles south and is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the IntracoastalWaterway. The serene 39-acre course is perfect for all skill levels and features 18-holes, from 81 to 211 yards, two lakes, and a lush Paspalum turf. With beautiful landscaping, a stunning tropical setting, and an ocean breeze, it’s equal parts challenge and relaxation. “The Palm Beach Par 3 is a true golfing destination and maybe one of the most fun golf courses you will play!” said Tony Chateauvert, Manager and Head Professional at Town of PalmBeach Par 3.

Originally designed by world-renowned golf course architect Dick Wilson and his apprentice Joe Lee, the Palm BeachPar 3 Golf Course was built by Michael Phipps and opened for play in 1961. It was privately owned until 1973 when the Town of Palm Beach purchased it. The course was recently renovated and redesigned in 2009 by Hall of Fame golferRaymond Floyd.

In addition to the full course, they also offer a full-length driving range, putting green, and a practice bunker.Be sure to keep an eye out for the pros! In its early days, it was popular with the founders of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Contemporary LPGA members liked it so much that they chose Par 3 as the location for the annualLPGA Pro-Am event from 1983 until 2000.

“With 6 holes right on the ocean and 3 directly on the intra-coastal, it will challenge the accomplished golfer and be lots of fun for the novice,” Mr. Chateauvert added. When spending the day at the course, pro tip, remember to schedule your tee time in advance, as it can get crowded. After your round, get the “par-tee”started and head on down for a walk on the beach or check out the Al FrescoRestaurant and Bar on the second level of the clubhouse. Opened in 2014, it offers golfers a weekday breakfast and a scrumptious weekend buffet. While enjoying the gorgeous ocean views, be sure to try the pizza!

Docking at the Palm Beach Marina not only gives you limited complimentary access to the “un-fore-gettable” Palm Beach Par 3 golf course but to several other amenities such as the Seaview and Phipps Ocean Park Tennis Centers, and the Mandel Recreation Fitness Center — in case golf isn't your sport of choice!
